In the NewsStrategic Staffing Solutions Invests in European Market
2006.09.14 DETROIT - Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3), a Detroit-based information technology (IT) firm, continues to make its European ventures a priority with the hiring of two highly-regarded managers of its European branches. Jeff Nelson, former executive director of the US-Baltic Foundation, has been named to lead the Lithuania office and Harry Plastik, former managing director of staffing services for The Ayers Group, Inc, will lead the U.K. office. "S3 Lithuania and U.K. have gained a reputation for delivering high quality products," said Cynthia J. Pasky, S3 president and CEO. "It was critical that we find highly qualified professionals when filling such high-profile positions. Both Jeff Nelson and Harry Plastik have immense knowledge of the European market and will be very effective leaders. It was a coup for S3 to add them to our team." S3 offices in Lithuania and the U.K. provide high quality offshore application development, maintenance and outsourcing services. They also offer S3 the ability to enhance global services to their current clients as well as create a base for earning new business in the Baltic and Nordic regions of Europe. These two offices contain an international development facility, allowing for the offshore development of leading-edge applications and technologies for S3's customers worldwide. Nelson, leading the office in Vilnius, Lithuania, was a vital part of the U.S.-Baltic Foundation's formation in 1990, and as executive director, built an international network of supporters. Nelson worked with Baltic and U.S. political leaders, business leaders and foundations to garner investment in the region. He also played an important role in the Foundation’s efforts to help align the Baltic countries' NATO membership, for which he received a medal of honor from the Latvia Minister of Defense. "Nelson's extensive knowledge of the Baltic countries serves as an incredible asset to S3," Pasky said. "This addition to our team is very important to the growth and success of the company in that region." Plastik is well experienced in building businesses from the ground up. He built a contract staffing business in the U.K. and a substantial network of contacts in the London market. He has ample search firm experience, specializing in high level placements such as chief information officers and global heads of infrastructure. In his new role, Plastik will be responsible for establishing a search firm practice within S3 on both sides of the Atlantic, and will primarily work out of the New York and London offices. S3 is currently building an infrastructure and a larger office in London to support the practice. "Harry was hired to perform top executive level searches," said Pasky. "Historically, our recruiters have looked for specific IT people. But where we may be looking for 10 information technology consultants, Harry will be looking for one chief executive officer within the banking technology sector." In his new role, Plastik will be responsible for creating search firm activity within S3 on both sides of the Atlantic, and will work primarily out of the New York and London offices. S3 operates 18 branches: Detroit, Atlanta, Charlotte, two in the Chicago area, Columbus, Ft. Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Richmond, New York, Tampa, New Orleans, Houston, Boston, Orlando, St. Louis and two European offices in Vilnius, Lithuania and London, England. S3 provides information technology (IT) consulting, project solutions and vendor management services to: financial institutions, energy companies, telecommunications, government agencies, and retail and health care entities.
