Carl J. Bentley, vice president of the Detroit-based global IT consulting firm Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3), has been recognized as a Top Power seller by Crain's Detroit Business. Bentley, who manages S3's $30 million Detroit branch, was one of eight individuals selected for this award.
Crain's Detroit Business judges the power sellers on four major criteria: creative problem solving, customer service, client-focused thinking and bottom-line sales. 60 nominations were received and only 8 qualified for this elite recognition.
"We're thrilled that Carl has been recognized by Crain's," said Cynthia J. Pasky, Strategic Staffing Solutions president and CEO. "He has an inherent ability to analyze and understand the needs of our customers and establish contracts that are profitable for both the customer and S3. Carl can close a deal in any economy, industry or market, which makes him one of this area's most valued sales professionals."
Since joining S3 nine years ago, Bentley has spurred the Detroit branch's growth from annual revenues of $10.5 million to its current $30 million in a challenging market. His 30-years of experience in IT and sales in the private and public sectors contribute to his success. When asked the reason for his success in sales, he cited his knack for building quality relationships with customers and potential customers. "People buy from people they like," he said.
"Carl hits the pavement, makes the calls, follows up and executes a sale like no other in the industry," said Pasky. "As a true team player and mentor, he uses his knowledge and experience to train marketers at S3's branches to excel to his level."
Bentley is also involved in his local community, serving as president of the trustee board for Mariners Inn, a Detroit shelter and treatment center for homeless men. And, he also serves on the boards of The Heat and Warmth Fund and the Detroit Executive Service Corps.
