AI Specialist III – Generative AI / Agentic AI Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid; candidates must be local to Charlotte
Contract Length: 12 months
Experience: 6–8 years of software engineering and 3–5 years of hands-on generative AI implementation experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or 8 years of equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Generative AI Engineer to design, develop, and maintain AI-powered applications capable of automatically generating code, data pipelines, and web applications from prompts.
This role focuses on generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and agentic AI technologies. The successful candidate will apply strong software engineering principles to build maintainable, testable, modular applications while developing AI solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
The engineer will collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders, explore emerging AI technologies, optimize AI models, and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain applications that generate code, pipelines, and web applications using generative AI and agentic technologies.

Integrate generative AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Apply software design principles and established patterns to create clean, maintainable, modular, and scalable code.

Build and implement AI agents, including solutions using Amazon Bedrock.

Experiment with and implement LLM-based agentic technologies to enhance application capabilities.

Use unit testing frameworks to support code quality, reliability, and maintainability.

Optimize and fine-tune AI models for performance, scalability, and accuracy.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to support adoption of AI-powered tools.

Develop solutions in alignment with established AI policies.

Conduct research and development on emerging technologies, including blockchain and quantum computing.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or 8 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.

6–8 years of software engineering experience.

3–5 years of hands-on experience implementing generative AI solutions.

Strong programming skills in Python and the ability to learn new frameworks quickly.

Hands-on experience building AI agents using Amazon Bedrock.

Strong understanding of software engineering principles, modular code development, and application design.

Experience writing maintainable, testable code.
Preferred Qualifications

Software engineering experience focused on AI and machine learning.

Experience with agentic AI technologies and applications.

Familiarity with generative AI frameworks and large language models.

Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision.

Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.

Programming experience with Python, React, and Angular.

Required Assessment
Candidates must complete the Glider GAI Expert/Software Engineer assessment.

They can build AI-powered applications and agents, demonstrate hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, and apply sound engineering practices to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.
