Business Execution Consultant
 

Location: Charlotte, NC

Duration: 12 months

This is a W-2 contract opportunity, and candidates must be able to work on our W-2 only. NO C2C or 1099.

Top Skills:
Required Technical Expertise:
• Advanced proficiency in:
o SQL (complex queries, stored procedures, performance optimization)
o Java (enterprise applications, batch processing frameworks such as Spring Boot / Spring Batch preferred)
• Strong understanding of:
o Data architecture and infrastructure design
o ETL and data pipeline development
o Distributed / scalable processing frameworks

Regulatory & Domain Experience (Direct Banking Experience is a “Nice to Have” – not completely essential, but if not, the technical expertise needs to be “off the charts”):
• Experience working in:
o Market Risk or Counterparty Risk environments
o Regulatory reporting (e.g., FR Y 14Q, CCAR, Basel) preferred
• Familiarity with:
o Stress testing processes
o Risk aggregation and reporting controls

Our client is seeking a highly technical contractor to join the Market & Counterparty Regulatory Reporting team, supporting the delivery of accurate, timely, and regulator-aligned reporting (e.g., FR Y 14Q, CCAR).

This role sits at the intersection of risk subject matter expertise and technology delivery, with a primary mandate to:

  • Learn and deconstruct current reporting and stress processes
  •  Identify inefficiencies and manual dependencies
  • Design and propose scalable automation solutions
  • Partner with technology teams to deliver these solutions into production

The position directly supports ongoing efforts to modernize reporting infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and reduce regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Analysis & SME Partnership:
• Partner with Market Risk and Counterparty Risk subject matter experts (SMEs) to:
o Understand end-to-end regulatory reporting workflows (data sourcing → transformation → aggregation → submission)
o Document current-state processes, controls, and data dependencies
• Identify:
o Manual touchpoints
o Reconciliation gaps
o Data lineage issues
o Opportunities for standardization

2. Automation & Solution Design:
• Develop future-state automation proposals aligned with enterprise technology strategy
• Translate business processes into scalable technical designs, including:
o Data pipelines
o Aggregation logic
o Reporting layers
• Evaluate modernization opportunities such as:
o Migration of legacy SQL-based processes to modern application frameworks (e.g., Java-based ETL)
o Consolidation of fragmented reporting workflows into structured infrastructure
• Ensure solutions:
o Meet regulatory accuracy and auditability requirements
o Improve performance, scalability, and control environments

3. Requirements & Delivery Management:
• Capture detailed business and technical requirements in Jira, including:
o Epics, features, and user stories
o Acceptance criteria aligned with regulatory and data validation standards
• Partner with technology developers to:
o Refine backlog items
o Ensure correct interpretation of requirements
o Support testing and validation
• Drive end-to-end delivery lifecycle:
o Design → Build → Test → Production deployment

4. Data & Technology Engineering Oversight:
• Analyze and work within complex reporting data environments involving:
o Large-scale relational datasets
o Risk aggregation frameworks
o Regulatory reporting tables
• Ensure robustness across:
o Data integrity and reconciliation
o Transformation logic
o Performance optimization

5. Reporting & Visualization Enablement:
• Incorporate modern visualization and analytics tools where appropriate:
o Power BI and Tableau for reporting and insights delivery
• Leverage these tools to:
o Reduce manual report generation
o Enable self-service analytics for stakeholders
o Improve transparency into risk metrics and reporting outputs

6. Emerging Technology & AI Adoption:
• Evaluate and recommend use of emerging technologies, including:
o AI/GenAI copilots for documentation, reconciliation, or anomaly detection
o Advanced analytics platforms (e.g., Fabric-like ecosystems, semantic layers)
• Ensure new technologies:
o Align with enterprise governance and risk standards
o Provide measurable efficiency or control improvements

Delivery & Collaboration:
• Proven experience:
o Writing detailed requirements in Jira (user stories, acceptance criteria)
o Operating within Agile / hybrid delivery environments
• Strong ability to:
o Translate SME discussions into concrete technical solutions
o Partner across risk, data, and technology teams"
