Senior Business Analyst — Trade Surveillance
Vilnius, Lithuania · Contract · Hybrid
Strategic Staffing Solutions client - a global financial technology company - is undertaking a major transformation programme to deliver the next generation of its Market Surveillance (NMS) platform for Global Surveillance teams — NMS being one of the world's leading compliance and surveillance solutions, trusted by regulators and exchanges globally.
As Senior Business Analyst, you will own the functional definition and delivery of requirements for this programme, acting as the critical bridge between surveillance strategy and technical execution. You'll translate complex business needs into structured, actionable requirements, manage delivery workflows, and ensure data integration meets both exchange and system specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into clear, structured specifications — including acceptance criteria, user stories, and supporting documentation — to guide Development, QA, and Delivery teams, and to support Surveillance teams.
- Define, document, prioritize, and test data and functional requirements for the Trade Surveillance platform, balancing exchange needs, technical feasibility, and business value across the full product lifecycle.
- Partner with cross-jurisdictional Surveillance teams across Europe and the US, working closely with Commercial and System Engineering teams on project planning, requirements gathering and tracking, remove delivery impediments, and ensure work aligns with product design principles
- Engage directly with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to validate and review requirements, ensure clarity, and drive alignment on enhancements and issue resolution.
- Manage the project backlog, introduce new procedural governance, and lead calibration and tuning efforts as surveillance models and patterns are iteratively implemented across multiple asset classes, including Equities and Fixed Income
- In addition to Project focused work, support Surveillance operational (business as usual) activities including business initiatives reviews, market abuse risk assessment support and handling ad hoc user queries
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a business or product analyst role within capital markets, financial technology, or a regulated trading environment.
- Strong understanding of trading data structures, trading protocols (e.g., order management, execution workflows), exchange rules, and asset class/product coverage (equities, fixed income, derivatives, and instruments including futures, options, and forwards).
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into structured documentation (e.g., functional specs, user stories, data flow diagrams).
- Proven experience in Agile delivery environments, using tools such as JIRA, while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and product teams.
- Strong data analytics skills, with advanced proficiency in SQL-based analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with trade surveillance, compliance monitoring, or market regulation frameworks (e.g., MAR, MiFID II, FINRA, Nasdaq Market Model, or Exchange Rules).
- Experience with large-scale data integration pipelines or market data feeds across multiple asset classes, including knowledge of instrument reference data and how traded products differ from a surveillance monitoring perspective.
- Exposure to global teams and cross-regional client engagement.
- Experience with trade surveillance vendor tools such as NMS, NTS, Actimize, Trading Hub, Scila, or similar platforms and the critical role of system calibration.
- Strong experience using JIRA for backlog management and Agile/Sprint planning.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
