Materials Management Advisor – Inventory

Location: Houston, TX
Project Duration: 12 Months

We are seeking a Materials Management Advisor – Inventory with experience in inventory management, materials planning, ERP systems, and supply chain operations.

This position will support inventory strategy and day-to-day materials management across a regional or site-based operation. The role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to improve material availability, optimize inventory levels, and support efficient warehouse and logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support site or regional inventory management strategies aligned with business and operational needs.
  • Review material requirements with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Analyze inventory levels and identify opportunities to improve availability, reduce excess stock, and optimize working capital.
  • Track and report inventory KPIs, trends, and performance.
  • Maintain accurate material master data within the ERP system.
  • Support spare parts planning and critical equipment inventory strategies.
  • Work with Maintenance teams to establish appropriate stocking levels and service requirements.
  • Support demand planning and ongoing inventory requirements for operations.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts, cycle counts, reconciliation, and inventory control activities.
  • Identify surplus and obsolete inventory and support disposition or investment recovery efforts.
  • Ensure inventory and materials management processes follow applicable internal controls, accounting requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to inventory analysts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory optimization, materials management, warehousing, and supply chain performance.
  • Support ERP implementation, migration, or system-readiness activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in inventory management, materials management, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and inventory or supply chain reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, and leadership teams.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in oil and gas, energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, or another industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of equipment, spare parts, and materials used in field, plant, or operational settings.
  • Experience with inventory optimization, demand planning, inventory accounting, or statistical analysis.
  • Background supporting warehouse operations, inventory control, inbound logistics, or materials planning.
  • Experience managing surplus, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.
  • Experience supporting ERP deployments, upgrades, or system changes.
