SAP Finance Consultant
Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Month Contract
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Finance Consultant to support and enhance SAP financial systems within a healthcare/hospital environment. The consultant will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain, Clinical Operations, IT, and other business stakeholders to ensure SAP Finance processes effectively support the organization's financial and operational needs.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO), experience with financial process integration, and an understanding of the unique requirements of healthcare organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, configure, implement, and support SAP Finance solutions supporting hospital and healthcare business processes.
- Provide functional expertise in SAP FI/CO, including:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Asset Accounting (AA)
- Bank Accounting
- Cost Center and Profit Center Accounting
- Internal Orders
- Financial Closing and Reporting
- Support integration between SAP Finance and other SAP/non-SAP systems, including clinical, billing, revenue cycle, supply chain, procurement, payroll, and other healthcare applications.
- Gather business requirements from Finance and operational stakeholders and translate them into SAP functional requirements and solutions.
- Configure SAP functionality and conduct unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide timely resolution.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
- Develop and maintain functional specifications, process documentation, configuration documentation, test scripts, and training materials.
- Participate in SAP implementations, upgrades, enhancements, system integrations, and optimization initiatives.
- Work with technical teams on reports, interfaces, conversions, forms, workflows, and other SAP developments.
- Support data migration and validation activities related to Finance.
- Ensure financial processes and SAP configurations align with organizational policies, internal controls, audit requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve reporting, and increase automation.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to business users and support teams.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, analysts, vendors, and other IT teams to deliver SAP solutions.
Healthcare / Hospital Responsibilities
- Support financial processes associated with hospitals, health systems, clinics, and other healthcare entities.
- Understand the relationship between financial systems and healthcare-specific processes such as patient accounting, billing, revenue cycle, purchasing, inventory, supply chain, and clinical operations.
- Support financial reporting across multiple hospitals, facilities, departments, cost centers, and service lines.
- Assist with integration and reconciliation between SAP Finance and patient/revenue-cycle systems.
- Support healthcare-specific financial controls, reporting, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Help ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenues across departments, facilities, service lines, and other organizational structures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience with SAP Finance, preferably in a consulting or large enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP FI/CO configuration and support.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial business processes.
- Experience with SAP integration with other functional areas such as MM, SD, HR/HCM, or Supply Chain.
- Experience with SAP implementation, enhancement, upgrade, and production support activities.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with healthcare organizations, hospitals, health systems, or medical centers.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance.
- Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle and patient financial processes.
- Experience integrating SAP with patient accounting, billing, electronic medical record (EMR/EHR), or other healthcare applications.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial controls.
- Experience with SAP Fiori and modern SAP reporting/analytics.
- Experience with SAP migration, data conversion, and reconciliation.
- SAP Finance certification is a plus.
